Other Jokka Stories
The original Jokka shorts were published in Strange Horizons and are still
available online:
The first,
"Money for Sorrow, Made Joy", concerns Ekanoi, a neuter traveling on
a caravan.
The second,
"Freedom,
Spiced and Drunk"
, concerns Kediil, the first traveling healer, a rogue female.
This
story made the Tiptree Award's Secondary List and was recommended for
a Nebula.
A third story,
"Unspeakable," was Strange Horizons's feature
story for November, 2002. It won
a Reader's Choice
Award for 2002, and was a finalist in the short story category for the
2003 Spectrum Awards.
"Unspeakable" was also chosen for inclusion in the
Best of Strange
Horizons 2003 anthology. This story is about a naughty story-teller
and the male who is compelled by those stories.
