Author's Note
Spots began as a way to keep my mind active while at the gym, a thought exercise initially presented as a series of themed vignettes. It didn't stay that way long, though. It only took a month for a story to start coalescing out of these disconnected episodes. These days, at 160+ pages and 70+ episodes and counting, Spots has graduated to a full-fledged military SF novel, complete with outline and planned plot arcs and ending.
Which is great... except you can still see the bones in the first few episodes, where Spots is still more vignette than novel. As time permits I'm going back and filling in the holes, but in the mean time I ask your patience with the sketchy beginning. I think you'll be rewarded if you keep reading.
